Re: Email

Hello,

I think you can try two things : the soft reboot, and if it does not work, the hard reboot. Don't worry, you can't lose data with these two reboots.

Soft reboot :
1) Hit the three following keys at the same time :
- Alt
- Left Shift
- Delete
2) wait 2 minutes for the Blackberry to wake up.

Hard reboot :
1) your Blackberrry device is on
2) remove the battery and wait for a minute
3) Put the battery back
4) wait 5 minutes for the device to wake up.

Please tell us if it works for you.

Bifocals:

I'm assuming of course that by setting up Gmail to retrieve and respond to business emails, your business email server would have to be configured to forward your work email to your gmail account, right?

Re: Email

[ Edited ]

Hi,

Not the server, you can do it from your own networked desktop as long as you have an constant internet connection.

Just set the option in your Outlook (pim) to forward to gamma.

So in Google you set your email address that you will forward. You then set an option that says anything delivered

to that specific email address J@work gets answered by J@work, you can do this with up to 10 accounts.

They do have an option in Google that will go to your ISP and push the mail to you, just like BB. However on a work

account that would not only cause over head to the server,  but it would tip off your boss that while he's playing

golf, you're not in the office, your playing on a different course :smileyhappy:

Make sense?

Thanks

Re: Email

But assuming your desktop/laptop won't always be, would it be better to configure that on the server? My company doesn't have a BES, so they're willing to see what we can do to make it work without relying on my laptop always being connected.

Maybe the right answer is to download the free for 1 user BES server and use that instead?

Thoughts & guidance appreciated. Thanks!!

Re: Email

Hi,

In the case you mention, where the company is in favor of it, then yes you could have each individual

forwarded (one policy would cover it).

Question though. When you are on vacation and your laptop is off you don't miss any emails right?

That's because they are stored on the server. Guess where the forwarding rule that you would put

for gmail is actually set? Exactly, the server.

When I said you could do it from your desktop and set the filter, I implied the filter was set on the desktop, my error.

The same as the Blackberry, the filter is actually set on the account mailbox, not the BB itself.

Make sense?

Re: Email

I'm having the same problem as the initial poster, in that my emails are coming through my Outlook account however, only about 1 in 4 are making it to my Blackberry and usually it's when I'm out of the office and my computer is powered down.  From my understanding of your responses to the previous poster the problem I'm experiencing is that Outlook is removing the emails from my service providers server before Blackberry and thus BB doesn't see any emails to pull.  My problem is that my service provider (Brighthouse Networks) only allows a very limited amount of data storage on their server.  I can have my messages forwarded from my Outlook email address to my Gmail account, but I'm not sure how I can then respond to those messages and have it appear as being sent from my Outlook email address.  Is that something you can assist me with, or is that even possible?
