Welcome to the Forums.
 
Encryption is a form of making everything on you device secure from prying eyes and unusable by anyone if that encrypted file were removed from your device (say a picture).
 
I don't have encryption enabled, I don't have anything on my BlackBerry I need to keep secret.

No, I do believe that Facebook alone will work over a WiFi only connection.
