In trying to sync the phone to a new computer, repeated error messages - CRADSDatabase Error (Sync Status) not open. What is the fix?

Sorry to hear that you are having problem while synchronization , there are no such workaround available for the error you receiving ,So refer this thread please have a look CRADS database error . As suggested you can call your Carrier ti escalate this issue to RIM for further help.
Or start all over again Cleanly "Starting Over" with the Desktop Software (non-BES)
