Escape key types B$, A Key types Uo - help please

Hi

Suddenly My Blackberry curve 9300 explore keys & the A key, have stopped working correctly.

When I press the A I get Uo

the escape Key gives me B$

the send key gives jk

menu key  gives yi

end key gives nm

and pressing the trackpad I get hl

All the other keys seem to work correctly.

I've tried taking the battery out but no joy.

Any advise and help would be much appreciated

Cheers

Re: Escape key types B$, A Key types Uo - help please

It sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage.

Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out. It really is more common than you think.

1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)
3. DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = disaster).
4. If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.

Suggestions on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place (open, with the battery out):
*Place the BB in a container of dry UNcooked rice, and then you might also place it in any of the locations mentioned below.
*On top of any dry heat emitting electronic component: TV cabinet or CRT, LCD, cable TV/Satellite converter box or plasma monitor
*On the dashboard of your car on a sunny day

Re: Escape key types B$, A Key types Uo - help please

Thanks for the quick responce.

Although I'm not sure if the phones wet, its never taken into the bath room whilst I'm in the shower.

However it was in my bag the other day when I was caught in a very heavy rain storm so Its a possibility, I'll leave the battery out for a a day and see if that helps

cheers

Re: Escape key types B$, A Key types Uo - help please

Taking out the battery for a couple of days, seemed to work for a week or so, then it started to play up again.

I took the phone to the shop I got it from and they looked at it and said it needed to be sent back to the factory to be fixed. After just over a week I got the phone back.

It worked fine, but then about 2 months later it played up again. I know it was not getting wet I was take extra care, making sure it was never in the bathroom and keeping it in my coat rather than bag when it was raining.

I've since stopped using, what I now consider the worst phone make I have ever had the misfortune to own, and I have tried many makes of phone, and switch to a i-phone.

The only think I can suggest it to take it back to the shop if you can.
