Re: HELP!!!: Internet not working when i have wifi??

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Depending on the OS level you are running, you may not be able to use the native browser via WiFi without an active BB data plan. Refer:

  • KB23393 How to check the model number and version of the operating system on a BlackBerry smartphone

As I recall, anything less than OS6.x.x.x can't properly use the native browser without an active data plan. You can try to set it to be the hotspot browser, but that may or may not work (last time I had an OS5 device, it didn't):

  • KB29087 Unable to browse the Internet over a Wi-Fi connection on the BlackBerry smartphone

You can also seek out an alternative browser (e.g., Opera Mini) that can indeed use just WiFi...but you will have to use your computer to install it as OTA installs require the use of the native BB browser. As I recall, Opera provides full instructions for installing via USB.

Good luck!
