Hacked

Without getting into details, I believe my BBCurve had spyware installed (thank you TrackWary). This happened to me previous device, so yes, I know it CAN happen. How do I undo without a complete wipe?

Thanks,

CG6

Re: Hacked

No, very very unlikley, unless you've give your device to someone long enough for them to install (or you did so yourself) an application to spy on you. The spyware app MUST have been installed. It can't just happen from running some batch file like is possible on a PC.

So, in your Options > Advanced > Applications list... what application(s) are there that you do not recognize?

Delete them.

Otherwise, a complete wipe IS necessary if you continue to believe you have spyware installed on your BlackBerry.

Finally, in future , use a security password on your Curve. That will restrain anyone from installing any applications unknown to you on your BlackBerry.

Re: Hacked

Smiley Happy

Thank you!

I am aware of what it takes to have it done, as mentioned it has happened in the past and I know HOW it was done (and yes it's pw protected). I just need to know how to undo.

Re: Hacked

Giant thankses! Now to figure out what all this means. May just do a wipe and be done with it. It's being weird anyway (showing I have received email when I have not, indicates messages that don't exist, and I'm having difficulty getting rid of some apps (if I try to delete, it freezes my phone solid).

Re: Hacked

That's not a virus or spyware... even if you absolutely know it is.

  • What model Curve is this?
  • What is your Operating System loaded to your device? Look at Options > Device > About, third line down beginning with a "v.6.0.x.xxx", What is yours?
