Hey.

I am a new blackberry user, and I am having some problems with the volume controls

When I first got the thing the volume was working fine,

Then we had to do a reset on it for some reason, and I think the sound was fine...

But somewhere inbetween then and now...

the sound on the thing stopped working all together.

Like the "Normal" profile is silent

The "Loud" profile is vibrate

The alarms don't work. No noise, not even the camera

shutter noise. Nothing.

I have tried going through and turning up the volume in

the advanced options file in the profiles.

I have tried a soft reset and hard reset.

I have even tried wiping the thing alltogether.

NOTHING has worked.

I am completely lost.

if anyone could help, that would be amazing.

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Well I think you tried everything but rebuild the circuitry!

Try one thing,

Go to voicenotes, see if you can record and play back a note. Check the speaker.

I take it music doesn't play through thru speaker? Try the headphones as a test.

Sounds like it may have gotten wet?  Is that a possibility?

No, it didn't get wet.

Yesterday, about 2 hours after I posted this,

it started working.

Then this morning... I noticed that it was only after I pulled 

from the holster that it was acting funny.

So, I tried it again, and put it in the holster, and it stopped working.

sure enough 2 hours later it started working again.

moral of the story... I am sure as hell not using that holster.

So. I think this is solved..

There is a magnet in the holster that put's the BB  in standby, perhaps the magnet slid or became damaged.
