Help! Curve 9320 keys aren't working properly.

Hoping someone can help me.  My daughter has had her curve 9320 for 4 months and all of a sudden the other day she is unable to unlock her phone as some of her keys aren't working properly.  It's the o e l s delete p m z x £/$ button's.  I rang Orange and was told to connect to the pc and back up phone and then check for software updates as it sounds like a software problem.  They said I'd be able to put the password in via the computer and unlock the phone that way.  However, i was prompted to put the password in and that let me get pass the 'blackberry' part of unlocking the phone but then I had a pop up saying the phone was encrypted and to unlock the phone...i cannot do that as the keys aren't working properly, the l key comes out ls etc.  I have no idea how to get past this.

Please use plain text.

When you connected to the PC, were you not able to enter the password?

I was able to enter the password on the pc and then the computer started to do back up, that's when the pop up asking me to unlock the phone...but because of the problem with the keys on the phone I am unable to.

Re: Help! Curve 9320 keys aren't working properly.

Ah,,. ok.

So, when you enter a character, other unintended characters appear?

That's moisture damage.

It sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage.
Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out. It really is more common than you think.
1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)
3. DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = disaster).
4. If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.

Suggestions on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place (open, with the battery out):
*Place the BB in a container of dry UNcooked rice, and then you might also place it in any of the locations mentioned below.
*On top of any dry heat emitting electronic component: TV cabinet or CRT, LCD, cable TV/Satellite converter box or plasma monitor
*On the dashboard of your car on a sunny day
