How to Curve 8300 set to factory defaults?

Hi All,

I have a Blackberry curve 8300 that I have decommissioned.  However, I left some data on it that requires recovery.  Funny things is I forgot the password.  I do have a backup of the data so I all need to do is figure or get told how to set the device to factory defaults so I can reload the system with the application that is storing the data I need.

Thanks, Trent.

Re: How to Curve 8300 set to factory defaults?

Hello,

This KB documents how to accomplish resetting a BB back to factory defaults. However, when you said "...so I can reload the system...", I'm not sure what you are asking for there...the reset to factory will basically result in what you first asked for.

Or are you looking for a way to totally wipe a BB clean (no OS) and then reload a total fresh OS? If so, the procedure would be different...see this:

or you can try BBSAK -- I've heard good thing about that.

Good luck and let us know!

Re: How to Curve 8300 set to factory defaults?

You are correct Sir.  I want to reset to factory-defaults.  If can avoid reloading the OS that would be wonderful.

I need to access an application already loaded on the device.  If I can not then I can still get to it as I do have a backup the blackberry.

Re: How to Curve 8300 set to factory defaults?

The data on the phone will be erased, so if you do not have a backup already, you will lose the information you are trying to get.

You may not be able to backup the device now if you don't have the password.

If it has been so long that you forgot the password, then why have you waited this long to get the information? It would seem that if you needed the information, then you would have retrieved it well before forgetting the password.
