How to remove a virus....

I have a BB curve 9330 and I think it may have a virus. I made the mistake of downloading Skype and as soon as I did my BB shut down and I have not been able to turn it on since. I bought a new battery thinking that was it but nope. I tried plugging it into my pc for BB desktop and I actually got a blue error screen on my pc. I can't turn it on to make any adjustments. I miss my BB :-( any suggestions?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, attempt to remove what you installed.

1. There is no virus for BlackBerry. None. No, none.

 

2. Follow sdgardne's suggestion,go to Options > Advanced > Applications and delete the Skype app.

(of, if you're on OS7, it would be Options > Device > Application Management, and delete Skype.)

 

Skype should work well on your 9330 model if you are on Verizon.

Press/release/hold sequence??  It says just to hold it down until the loading screen appears. Am I supposed to be doing something else?

Sometimes, it works exactly as the KB instructs...other times, you must fiddle with it a little to get it to work on your specific device/OS level. All I'm saying is that you need to have patience, and try different methods until you figure out the one that works for you.
