ID & Password

My son has dropped his phone, a message has appeared - Blackberry ID sign in, it says that he is using a new sim card (which he isn't) and asking for a username and ID.  We have tried to login in with details which we think could be them but they don't work, then tried setting up a new one but that doesn't work, message is its invalid.  When trying to logout out it gives the option to wipe, we don't want to do this.  Please help!
