Internet data configuration for unlocked BB Curve 8310

After much research I was directed to this site for help.

I have an issue with BB 8310 Curve internet data configuration.

I bought an unlocked BB Curve and I am  unable to access internet.

I have an internet plan with my carrier; Consumer Cellular. I  have the settings that I received from them (they do not carry BB) that I can input manually; but have no clue how to do this. I tried to register, but was unsuccessful.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Internet data configuration for unlocked BB Curve 8310

Blackberry's require a specific Blackberry Data Plan in order to function properly where the information is pushed from your service provider to the phone in the form of "Service Books".

Without those service books you will be unable to use the majority of features on your phone - and as you have said your carrier does not support Blackberrys then I would imagine they do not offer a Blackberry Data Plan.

Some more details on what you can and cannot do with a generic data plan can be found here.

Re: Internet data configuration for unlocked BB Curve 8310

I have an unlocked blackberry bold 9780 bought from T-mobile.

I moved to consumer cellular now.

I can partially access internet as I have the consumer cellular data plan. I can download apps from blackberry world. Use opera mini web, can also use google maps.

However, when it comes to internet browsing through the installed browser, I fail. I cannot even check my emails.

I was given the following set of instructions from consumer cellular. They probably use att.mvno meaning the internet seetings for ATT. Can you assist me in using internet?

  1. On Device
    • Select Options (or Settings then Options) > Device > Advanced System Settings > Host Routing Table.
    • Scroll to the desired account and select Register Now.
    • The handset will display Registration message sent! Select OK.
    • Press the end call key to return to the main screen.
  2. On-line
    • Go to the relevant BlackBerry Internet Service Portal website for the service provider.
    • Follow the on-line instructions to send the service books to the device.
  3. Access Point only (for some applications)
    • Select Options > Device.
    • For software version 4.1 or later, select Advanced System Settings > TCP/IP.
    • For software version 4.1 or earlier, select TCP/IP.
    • Scroll to APN: and enter  att.mvno .
    • Enter the Username and Password listed below. If no value is listed, leave the field blank.
      • Username for APN:
      • Password for APN:
    • Press the Menu key to enter the TCP options menu.
    • Select Save.
    • Press the end call key to return to the main screen.
