Re: JVM Error 102 -- BEFORE YOU WIPE YOUR SYSTEM --

[ Edited ]

Very helpful thread!  New problem. The file that appears to be causing the error is net_rim_os-1... when I browse the device, I cannot find this file... and I suspect that this is an operating system file and that simply removing it will not make the blackberry functional so that I can backup the contacts.

1) Is there a way to access the OS files?

2) Can I replace them with JL_Cmder?

and if yes to the two questions above.... where could I get the OS files to replace them with?

3) Below is the event log for the error...perhaps I can do something with the Class 'org.xml.sax.SAXException' not found.  ?

Re: JVM Error 102 -- BEFORE YOU WIPE YOUR SYSTEM --

Help Please Me !!!

I had the JVM Error 102 problem and followed your instructions. The file I deleted using the javaloader was net_rim_bb_ribbon_lib because it was the file before the error in the event log:

guid:0x97C9F5F641D25E5F time: Wed Dec 31 19:00:00 1969  severity:0 type:2 appSmiley Frustratedystem data:VM:VCPNs=net_rim_bb_ribbon_lib
guid:0x97C9F5F641D25E5F time: Wed Dec 31 19:00:00 1969  severity:0 type:2 appSmiley Frustratedystem data:JVM Error 102

It was deleted, I disconnected the BB from PC, did a pullout of the battery, and when I tried to initialize my BB it starts thinking for a while and then it says:

App Error 205

Reset

Help !!!!

What can I do to fix this!!

Re: JVM Error 102 -- BEFORE YOU WIPE YOUR SYSTEM --

This is the new event log (the part where it finds that error)

guid:0xC1A90F9B4F904C57 time: Sun May 17 11:19:45 2009  severity:5 type:2 app:App Perms data:d SlideshowToGo:29
guid:0x97C9F5F641D25E5F time: Sun May 17 11:19:45 2009  severity:0 type:2 appSmiley Frustratedystem data:App Error 205

Do I have to follow the same instructions as the jvm error and delete  SlideshowToGo:29 ?

Shmoo - YOU ARE A LIFE/BLACKBERRY SAVER!!! Your post here not only saved my device, but also gave more proof that the wireless providers helplines are totally bogus, because when I called Verizon this morning, they said my ONLY options were a new phone or wiping my phone clean.  Thank you SO SO SO much for helping out.

Cheers!

Re: JVM Error 102 -- BEFORE YOU WIPE YOUR SYSTEM --

Okay, I'm taking this one step at a time, and I identified the bad .cod file.

From the EventLog

>>

verifyHash failed for net_rim_bb_resource(206)

>>

When I saw the other sources of errors from different people, they were either borders, bad fonts, or bad ringtones. A resource file concerns me a bit. I'm not sure how important a file like this is.

Anybody hazard a guess? 50/50 it won't turn back on? Heck, at this point, 50/50 would be good enough for me. I guess I'm just asking because somebody might go, 'Good lord, don't delete that file!' or something like that. : )

Thanks,

Frank

Re: JVM Error 102 -- --

Have followed your instructions however my event log page was blank.  Any other ideas/options?

Thanks

Re: JVM Error 102 -- BEFORE YOU WIPE YOUR SYSTEM --

Update on my previous post:

It worked enough. After I erased the problem file I recieved an 'app error 523' message. After several resets it finally started. This allowed me to use the Desktop Manager to update the OS, and everything is fine now.

A couple of small details that may be useful to others:

I had to restart my computer after erasing the problem file. I'm not sure why, but even with my BB started, I couldn't get the Desktop Manager to acknowledge it. After the PC restart, everything worked fine. Sigh, Windows and USB ports.

I'm not sure why the 523 error corrected itself, but it helped to take the battery out before the final reselt.

Well, I'm good to go now.

Thank you Shmoo.

Re: JVM Error 102 -- BEFORE YOU WIPE YOUR SYSTEM --

Worked a treat BOTH times. I suspect I will need to re-install as the same error came up for 2 different things. Thanks for the help

Re: JVM Error 102 -- BEFORE YOU WIPE YOUR SYSTEM --

This message saved my phone!

Although it didn't work initially, I read the posts farther down and realized I had made a mistake similar to others: THE FILENAME YOU HAVE TO ERASE DOES NOT INCLUDE THE NUMBERS IN PARENTHESES! Only delete the first part of the file name; eg net_rim_crypto_3 rather than net_rim_crypto_3(1070).       Thanks so much!
