Hey,
I just bought a Curve 8520, and i'd like to view and type in Japanese.
Can someone help me out with this? I'd mainly like to use it for mixi, facebook, yahoo messenger and emails.

Use the following link to download the device OS from East Asian countries and install in your computer. Then use Application Loader program of Desktop Manager to update required language.

I have a similar problem with reading and typing Chinese. I downloaded a version of desktop manager from China Mobile but no additional languages could be seen, other than the ones that came original with the phones. URGENT HELP NEEDED.
This was what I did.
1. Goto http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/dow
2. Goto China Mobile Peoples Telephone under Asia Pacific
3. Select Blackberry Curve 8520 at the drop down menu
4. Click download and installed this file.
BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.1.424 (EastAsia)
Package Version: 4.6.1.424
Consisting of:
After installation, I connected my Blackberry and selected Application Loader in BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Then I clicked the Start button. There are some languages available, but not any eastern languages like Chinese or Japanese. I noticed that they were the same one that came with the phone.

I bought 8520 Curve also, and would like to read / write Japanese fonts.
However, I have Mac os 10.4.11 and the new Desktop Manager for Mac does not support my version.
Can anyone suggest me a solution?
thanks in advance.

Hi, I still have this problem though ![]()
I have done everything. Installed Desktop Manager.
Downloaded the East Asian pack, run the pack.
Deleted the vendor file and run the loader application, but it just comes up with the same list as before
(same languages and no sign on Japanese or any other asian language.)
I have tried reinstalling the Desktop Manager and cleaning the registry of my PC to remove any backup files and installing the East Asian Pack again but still no luck.
Is there a particular location where I should place the Software OS.exe before launching it (since it doesn't ask for installation location)
Also in the instruction it says after deleting vendor file BB will reload? (DIDN'T happen with me...)
Please help, really need to read/write japanese
