Level 1 in profiles

I am new to bb, so grateful if someone could explain what the relevance of Level 1 in the 'Normal' profile is - presentationally it looks to be separate but not sure of it relevance. Thanks

You can set your PIN messages to be a Level 1 Message or even another user, so that they receive a specifi and distinct profile setting, alert and such.
