Not receiving emails and downloading 3rd party apps

Hi everyone,

I am the new kid on the block with blackberry. I have a blackberry 8300 smartphone but I am have the following issues using it:

1. I can send out email from the blackberry email I set up on my blackberry through my network provider, I can not receive any email to the account.

2. I am unable to add my Lycos.com email address to the blackberry,

3. I am unable to download any 3rd party app on my blackberry, I get a message that the IT policy on my phone does not permit me to download third party app.

I have spoken to my network operator several times about this issue but no joy. Any idea on how I can resolve this, will be appreciated.

Re: Not receiving emails and downloading 3rd party apps

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

There seems to be a widespread BB service outage at the moment. I suggest you stay tuned to these forums for updates and, after it is all clear, try things again...the things you note are all affected by this outage.

Cheers!

Re: Not receiving emails and downloading 3rd party apps

Have had my BB for about 8 months.  I started experiencing this same problem about 3 weeks ago.  My carrier cannot seem to provide me with a permanent fix.  My service provider (ISP) has proven to me it is not on their end.  I had some success with sending service books on sprint.blackberry.com but now that doesn't work.  I tried hard and soft resets with no luck.  BB technical service has not been able to provde a permanent fix as well.

Please is there someone out there who has a solution?

At the moment there is no solution. All data services on all carriers are affected. We even see that 1XEV and EDGE are showing as 1xev and edge...a very bad sign. Stay tuned...this one should hit the news...

Re: Not receiving emails and downloading 3rd party apps

Just want to say, while I can't send, receive email or browse the internet, I CAN browse with Opera mini. It seems the applications made by Rim (browser, email, and instant messaging) aren't working. This is an odd problem. :smileytongue: I just got my BB yesterday. I thought I broke something. nice to know it's not only me. :smileyhappy:

Re: Not receiving emails and downloading 3rd party apps

Well I'm just spending my time copying all my contacts over from one phone to my BB. If only my old Motorola would synch like my BB. Would save me an hour or two. Back on topic for a moment. It's sort of alarming how one problem would disable internet for people across multiple carriers. Eh, what can ya do? Back to adding contacts.
