I went to the Verizon website and downloaded the new 4.5 software.  Everything appears to be ok but my phone is still showing that I have the 4.3.  I took the battery out and checked again and still 4.3.  Is there something else I need to do, am I stupid or what?

Downloading the OS 4.5 software is not all you have to do. You must install it to your PC, and then open Desktop Manager and install it to your BlackBerry.

i downloaded the 4.5 from Verizon this past weekend.  I did it all on my pc as JSanders mentioned then sync'd it to my blackberry and it did all the upgrading things! took about 45 minutes. 

mine shows 4.5

Ok, I told you I was stupid!  I was connecting to the PC but it was not giving me an update option.  I had just downloaded the Desktop Software which was 4.5 version, but I had to download the Patch too,  Once I did this I got the update when I connected to the PC!  Thanks so much for your help!

I finally got it to work also.  Now we'll see what benefit I get from it!

Ok, maybe I did something wrong.  Last weekend I downloaded 4.5 from the smithmicro link on Verizon's page.  I updated desktop manager, then my curve.  4.5 is loaded on my device and I noticed quite a few things I wasnt happy with.  All the photos are gone, and I was using one of the samples as my wallpaper.  My profiles changed and I'm not thrilled with the noises its making now.  Also, I receive quite a few PDF files per day to view and there was a menu selection on 4.3 that basically zoomed in but clearly so I could scroll across and down viewing the file.  I believe it was called "enhance".  That is gone now.  I can "zoom" but its all blurry when i do it.

Also, the Docs to Go that everyone has mentioned is not on my handheld.  Isnt it supposed to be part of 4.5?

Hi and welcome to the forums!

It sounds like your upgrade software was either corrupt or the procedure to load it didn't

work right. I would suggest wiping your device and reinstalling the OS. It's also evident

that your data was not restored after the upgrade as well.

Docs to go should have been listed as available, but if you did not specify it to load, then it wouldn't have.

1) Make sure you have deleted the current OS on the PC before you download the new one.

2) If you have a good backup from before the upgrade, you can restore it after after the upgrade.

Just skip step #2 in the procedure (backup the device)

3) Remember to check the Docs to go app for installation.
