OS 7.1 Update Frozen! :(

So I've tried multiple solutions, browsed from after forum and I just can't find an answer. My Curve 9360 has been stuck at 8% (Social Feeds) in the back up part of the update process for hours now. I've tried literally everything! Because it is an OTA (Over The Air) update, my device is now unusable until the update is complete?! What should I do?! Please, any help is appreciated! :smileyhappy:

It sounds like you may have to wipe the device and reload the device does from scratch on your pc. The downside is your data will likely be lost. Do you have access to a pc?

Re: OS 7.1 Update Frozen! :(

How long has the device been stuck? Some have been saying that their devices finally updated after 8 hours or so. I'm not saying nothing is wrong as it shouldn't take this long but if we wipe the device and start from scratch you lose your data that was on the device.

Re: OS 7.1 Update Frozen! :(

That's not what I said. Its "possible" that it will come back after some time. It may not. Its up to you if you want to wipe it now and start over or give it some time and see what happens. We can wipe the device and reload the os usikg your pc but your data will be lost in the process. I recommend you call your carrier and see what they have to say about the update and this problem. If they can't help you come back and I'll be happy to walk you through reloading the os on your device.

The other good thing about calling your carrier is they can escalate your case to RIM if they can't solve the problem. That is how RIM finds out about problems that are occuring.

Re: OS 7.1 Update Frozen! :(

@amoniitaa & anyone else with this problem,

Please post the following:

Device Model

Service provider

Location

Then please send me a private message (PM) with your PIN (you can find this under Options >type "Status" in the search bar)

I know someone at RIM that will look into this and see what they can do.  If you don't feel comfortable sending me your PIN (there is no security risk associated with giving someone your PIN it's the same as giving out your email--we just don't post them on the public forum here) you'll need to get your case escalated to RIM through your carrier.
