Missing from the Applications Screen? Do you mean the home screen or the applications folder on the home screen?
That icon is not usually hideable nor deletable...but it is moveable...check every folder and sub-folder from your homescreen...it must be there somewhere.

If you follow the directions in this link to turn off the homescreen dialing, you can press the letter O to access your Options.
