Dont think this is official. Pretty sure its beta, has some glitches from other reviews.

They sell the phone wih it, it should not be a beta version.

Never installed new software on this device before.  Do I download it from the phone ?

It is official, those are RIM servers. RIM does not publically host leaked operating system software.

Download the file above, first.


Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.

1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

How long does this normally take, and once it's finished I can just go back and restore all my stuff ?

If all goes well with the upgrade, everything will be already restore to your BlackBerry.

 

Most of your third party applications, etc., will need to have any license keys input again.
