Recently whilst browsing or simply sending a text message my blackberry pearl switches off and reboots iteslf. Any ideas? Battery is well charged.

Do you have a media card installed? Try removing it to see if that stops the random reboots.

What phone model do you have? 82xx, 81xx?

What device OS are you running? Options>About, 3rd line down says v4.x.x.xxx?

Have the 8220.

Smartphone V4.6.0.155 (platform 4.1.0.55)

Have just removed the media card just now as  I was half way through a long text and the phone switched off again.

Fingers crossed.

I have only had the phone since January this year.

Have you installed any apps recently or upgraded the OS? Any other details that may be leading to this issue?

Phone switched off a couple of times without the media card. So media card back insitu.

Not downloaded any new apps for over 4 months.

so still not winning.

Try the following then:

• Remove Media card
• Backup phone data: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB12487
• Perform a clean installation of your OS: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11320

Don't restore the backup until you have had the chance to use the phone for a while. If it still gives you trouble I would suggest getting replaced under warranty.

If it works fine, restore important databases (address book, calendar) only: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB10339
