Phone Will Not Charge (Battery and Charger are fine!)

Device info

Carrier: Fido (Canada)

Model: BB Curve 9300

OS version: 6.0

My phone will not charge. There is no water damage. The battery works (Put the battery in another BB phone of the same model and it was charging, I also used the battery from the other phone and put it in mine to see if it would charge and it wouldn't - so it's definitely not a battery issue in my opion). I have about three chargers, two wall ones and one usb and they all don't work for my phone (But again, worked perfectly on the other phone and mine prior to all of this). I did a batter pull and nothing. I think it may be an OS issue? I wanted to try reloading my OS before posting here but the only OS download options I got were ones where you had to connect to your computer and not only does my phone not charge when connected to the computer but my phone does not get recognized on my computer(s) anymore. Are there still OTA software downloads?

I never had an issue like this and I 'm really not sure what to do. Absolutely nothing happened with my phone that is unique in any way. I brought my phone to work as I do everyday and came back home... Just as I was going to charge it for a bit two nights ago I noticed that I didn't see the lightening bolt then tried all of this. Also when a loaded battery is used on the phone there are NO issues, everything works perfect - I just can't get this phone to charge so the battery eventually drains.

I'm really not in the position to purchase another phone at this moment so I am truly hoping I will find a solution to my issue here. Please help me out!

Re: Phone Will Not Charge (Battery and Charger are fine!)

It sounds as if the USB charging port on the device is bad.

When you connect the BlackBerry to the PC via the USB cable, I know you said you don't see the charging symbol on the BlackBerry, but do you hear any dings or connection alerts on the PC, that a new device has been connected to the PC?

Hi JSanders,

Thank you for the reply. When I connect the phone to the PC there is no indication that the device is connected. I've tried different USB ports and two different computers.

Yep, I'd say that is a bad USB port.

Is the device still in warranty? check with Fido for a repair.

Re: Phone Will Not Charge (Battery and Charger are fine!)

Hi,

The phone is no longer under warranty. However, I noticed that I do get an indicator that my phone gets connected to the computer. When connected via usb I get a message stating "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it." When connected the device is titled "Unknown device."

Re: Phone Will Not Charge (Battery and Charger are fine!)

Do you have a recent backup of the data on your BlackBerry... made either while connected to the PC or do you have BlackBerry Protect installed?

Re: Phone Will Not Charge (Battery and Charger are fine!)

I do not have a recent back up. I may install blackberry protect to do so. However, my main concern right now is being able to charge my phone. I don't mind starting from scratch.

If the USB port is bad, you'll want to find a local electronics repair which can fix that or resolder the small USB port back in place.
