I have my gmail hooked to my blackberry and I send and receive e-mails with attachments normally. I have been experiencing a problem today with some JPG attachments as follows:
- when I receive an email on my blackberry and I click on "open attachment" sometimes it opens and sometimes I get a message "file conversion failed" and some other times I get a message "attachment server is busy"
- when I click on "download attachment" it downloads fine and I can open it.
this is happening randomly, not with all JPG attachments, and it just started happening today. I did a battery pull out and it didn't' help. I deleted some pictures from my phone to empty memory and it still didn't' work.
any clue what this is and how I can solve it???

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT
2) Delete and Resend Service Books
3) Batt Pull Reboot
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try deleting and re-adding your BIS configuration for the affected email accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
Good luck!

Thank you for your reply.
step 2 is a bit compicated for me and i am afraid i will mess things up.
however, what i did was install the software again to the phone. i connected it to teh desktop manager, clicked on "device" tab, update.
when it said that the version is up to date, i clicked "other versions" and it backed up, installed software 6, then it restored.
after this was completed, i did get a few activation messages, that i have no idea what they were.
till now, attachments seem to be opening fine, although as i mentioned in my post, it was happening at random and not in all teh attachments, so i will have to wait and see.
is the re-installation of the software that i did a repalcement for all teh above steps that you mentioned? i mean did it renew and replace everything?
thanks,

No, it is not. Indeed, after such an update, it is always recommended to do those three steps from above so as to refresh, from the Carrier system, the necessary items on the BB that enable it to work best with that carrier. The update operates solely on the OS and installed applications, which are the same for all BB users regardless of carrier. But, the HRT and Service Books are Carrier Specific, and must be delivered to the BB by the carrier system...those three steps are the method to force the refresh of those items.
Nevertheless, it may work fine for you, or it may recur...there is simply no way to know for sure.
Good luck!
