Hi there, I just bought a blackberry curve 9300 and sold me 8520..

I am trying to restore all my contacts from my old phone which I have now already sold and its been wiped..

I have re-installed app world, updated blackberry ID and have also added my old email address successfully.

MY problem comes in when I want to restore my contact list like I have done many times before...

This time round it says: "(email address) is not linked to any Blackberry Messenger account."

I have around 156 contacts on bbm out of which round 80 is not recoverable if I cannot restore...

Please te me there's a way to get my contacts back as without them I might as well sell this phone and get a galaxy

Is there really no one here that knows how to get past this problem?

If anyone knows, please let me know as I still have not mangaed to do this restore... keep getting the same message no matter what I try...

Do you have a backup of your old device before wiping it?

Unfortunately not....

My old one has been sold to someone else now....

All the previous times I have doen this, it has worked but now...

It keeps saying my email is not linked to any messenger account and I don't understand how this is possible as I have had 4 handsets now and I have been using the same email account all the time...

It still even work when I sign into app world...

I would really appreciate it if you could help me restore my contacts

On your device at Options > BlackBerryID, are you logged in?

I'm not sure if its loggd in...

It has my my name and surname under Screen name and my email address under Username...

Probably is. Click the Menu key > Check for updates.

Checked and it says blackberry ID software is up to date...

what I don't understand is why my bb is saying my email is not linked to any blackberry messenger account...

Is there anyway of finding out why it is saying that?

I have only ever used this email on my blackberries and have always managed to restore with it till now...

Can it be something on the side of RIM that malfunctioning or something?

Well, to be honest the BBID server for the new BBM has been wonky for the past week since the BBMv7 upgrades.

Please follow the two steps in this link to renew or restore... should help you.
