Retrieving deleted folders?

I think I accidentally deleted my "downloads" folder from my menu.  Now I have a facebook alert showing up on my screen and I cannot figure out how to make it go away and I'm guessing the key is somewhere in the downloads folder.  is there anyway for me to get it back??

Re: Retrieving deleted folders?

Well...I got my downloads folder back but the facebook alert will not go away! Any ideas? I know it may be obsessive but I really don't like having it on my screen. I have checked facebook, my messages, email, what seems like eveyrthing

Re: Retrieving deleted folders?

Tips for clearing that unread message... try them in order.

If you have a rogue New Message icon on your Homescreen, or a negative count (-1), any one of these solutions could clear it, or reset it to zero:

Try these options:
* Hard Reset the BlackBerry by holding ALT, CAP (right Shift key), and DEL (or with the BlackBerry powered ON, remove the battery and reinserting the battery)
* View Messages > Saved Messages
* View Messages > View Folders, check each folder (missed calls, SMS in and out boxes, MMS in and out boxes, Saved, browser, phone logs etc)
* Scroll to top of message folder, over the date heading, click or press menu to MARK PRIOR OPEN
* Change your theme and see if it persists, and change back to your desired theme. (Options > Theme > select.)
* Wipe and reload your OS.

Re: Retrieving deleted folders?

Thank you for all the suggestions.  Unfortunately I have done all of them except wiping and reloading my OS so I guess now my question is...how do I do that?  I just got the phone about two weeks ago so clearly I am unfamiliar with it.  Will I be losing everything that's set on here? I have not backed up contacts or pictures or anything online yet...will I lose them?

Re: Retrieving deleted folders?

Wiping your device will erase all informantion, contacts, preferences, etc., on your device.

Do a backup using Desktop Manager:  I would recommend Desktop Manager, version 5, Service Pack 1, withOUT the Media Manager. Download Desktop Manager from here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22

Quite honestly, I doubt you need to do all that, but you probably just need to be more thorough in your finding the Facebook notification...

Open the Facebook application > check all the tabs there for notifications (usually the second tab there).

If still nothing, go to options > advanced > applications and delete the FB application.

Then, reboot:  With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.

The notification should be gone now?

Then reload/install  the Facebook application. Use your BlackBerry browser to go to www.blackberry.com/facebook

Re: Retrieving deleted folders?

Ah thank you for all your help! I actually just needed to go into the facebook and "mark prior open" my notifications even though i thought they all were opened.  I feel like an **bleep**!  Thanks again...I wouldn't have known to do that without reading your tips from earlier!!

Re: Retrieving deleted folders?

lol, good to know.. glad you got it done.

And the 'anti-naughty' word filter here doesn't know if you're talking about yourself or another, so it bleeps it.  :smileyhappy:

Re: Retrieving deleted folders?

Thanks, JSanders!!   :smileyhappy:  - I had 2 pesky Facebook notifications...your suggestion about the 2nd FB tab usually having notifications was spot-on.
