Is there a way to keep the device from chaining text messages together as "message history"?  I receive a very large number of text messages and the device very quickly slows down incredibly when opening messages (up to 6 seconds to open) - until I manually select "Remove History" while in the message.  I would prefer to simply not have the text messages linked together they way they are, however, I cannot find an option that allows me to change this behavior.

Any help is appreciated.

Options > SMS Text > scroll down to > Number of Previous Items = 0.

And Save.

Go into your Messages, hit menu. Click on general options and there you will find the option to separate messages from text. You will also gain an SMS icon on your homescreen. Hope this helps.

Re-reading the original post, I don't believe that was his question.

This does not resolve the problem.  All this setting does is 'hide' the associated messaged.  Only 'remove history' seems to take care of the problem, however, this has to be done with each message.
