Screen Blanking

Hi,

I just received the 8310 and have At&t as my provider, runing OS 4.5.  I have downloaded Google Maps, and it works fine, except that the screen goes black after a few minuts.  It is pretty hard to use a mapping / gps system with a black screen... how do I keep the screen from blanking?

Also, is there a newer version of blackberyy maps that works with os 4.5?  From the features I had heard about, it had some things I think I would prefer over the google maps.

Thanks.

Re: Screen Blanking

If you go to options/screen keyboard, what is your backout timer set to?

Re: Screen Blanking

It is set for 2 minutes.. that seems to be the longest I can set it too.... the shortest is 10 seconds.

Re: Screen Blanking

These two value are default value set by RIM. However, pressing space button will make your screen glow again.

Re: Screen Blanking

Yes, hitting space turns on the screen again, but the question is how do I disable screen blanking?

I can't that the0screen goes black as prople navigate with telnav, does it?

So, I figure there must be a way to disable it. My old Palm zire stopped blanking when it was running navigator by TomTom so there must be a way to duplicate that on a blackberry?
