TMO 8900 after 38 days Cursor not moving when using Trackball

TMO carrier purchased 8900 Curve Javelin on May 1st and when using the trackball the cursor on the display DOES NOT MOVE

I have taken the battery out and waited for 30 seconds and result...still have a phone...purchased a five hundred dollar smart phone, but all i can do is make phone calls.

Any suggestions?  Oh and I have already asked TMO to send me a replacement and guess what...they are sending a refurbed phone to me....BUT THAT IS GOING TO TAKE A WEEK TO GET HERE.

It is Sunday and I have been working on this problem since Friday morning when it stopped working....and no I do not use the phone with greasy burger hands...I have handled this phone which was purchased as a business assistant with kid gloves.

Maybe somebody out there has had a similar experience and can tell me how to get out of this predicament....thanks

Re: TMO 8900 after 38 days Cursor not moving when using Trackball

step 1:

transfer all your files from internal memory to micro-sd memory card.

You can observe your device memory contents via instruction:

step 2:

Make selective backup

http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=8100&message.id=15956#M15956

Refer to this article  to realize what databases you need to backup.

step3:

After that on the device go to Options - Security Options - General Settings

Open menu and select "Wipe handheld"

Now, does the problem disappear? If so - restore the backed up information.

Re: TMO 8900 after 38 days Cursor not moving when using Trackball

after reestablishing my email and all the general settings it worked it was great

I then added the application facebook

now its back to working sometimes and then not working

if i push down on the trackball (initiate click) while trying to move the cursor ...then the cursor moves, but it makes it very difficult to with any degree of accuracy actually select the item you want to select using this method

any other suggestions?

Re: TMO 8900 after 38 days Cursor not moving when using Trackball

Does the issue with trackball occur after the wipe or after the installation of an application?

It is an important point.

There is enough internal memory, and if you have wiped the device and you did not install anything on clean device, and trackball still does not work I would recommend to ask for the device replacement.
