Trackpad and Keyboard not working.

Hi. I have a Curve 8520, I've had it almost a year ago. Yesterday an APP ERROR 523 appeared on my screen and I found out that an application crashed. So I tried to upgrade my OS from 4 to 5. It was successful but I wasn't able to scroll down to press the OK button. After a couple of hours trying to scroll down, I pressed the OK button. But my trackpad and keyboard is not functioning well because when I pressed the home button my BB is not showing the home screen, instead it shows me my phonebook. Please help me with my problem, any suggestions are much appreciated.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

From what you describe, I recommend a clean OS reload.

 

At the top of each device forum, there should be some "sticky" threads that discuss the OS levels available for each model. Please use those as reference as you proceed.

From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:

 

 

Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. You can even use a different carriers OS package by simply inserting, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion, on your PC, of a file named VENDOR.XML. Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.

If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

You also may want to obtain the BBSAK utility (BBSAK.ORG) and use it to totally wipe your BB (the result will be a 507) and then cleanly reload your OS.

Ive had a similar problem, with that error message, i know modules struggle to load, during the reinstall did you not get any error messages of files you had to skip? nonetheless I agree a complete OS reload should help with that problem. Hope you have backed up your files

I have read many forums toworking keyboard working.  I read many feeds about software upgrades etc, but then I read one about WHACKING the phone.  It only worked!
