I contacted Whatsapp support and they said:
"We know about this issue, unfortunately there is no fix for it at this time. We recommend changing to a different version of BlackBerry Operating System 5.0 (both OS versions 5.0.0.681 and 5.0.0.1036 have this problem)."
I'm using BB Curve 8900.
So seems like no solution.

Hello you all!
I had the same problem and this is what I did:
Options>Security Options>S/MIME:
Request S/MIME Receipts: YES
Allowed Content Ciphers: Tick them all
SAVE CHANGES
Reboot: (Alt + Right SHIFT + Del)
That worked for me. Hope you find it useful.
i think Whatsapp has something to do, but by doing this you can play your content without uninstalling apps or wiping media off.
Kind regards from Mexico City

Absolutely having wrong with WhatsApps Application. I Also had this problem. I read all replier about this problem. Totally delete or uninstall the WhatsApps if u have this Application. It's not suitable with Blackberry Curve 8250 Model. I just uninstall this application and reboot the device. After all done, u can play your music and video!
