Unable to place calls from contacts??

Am using a Curve 8350 and am unable to place calls through contacts folder.  When you click on a contact and press send (the phone number is in the contact with area code), it rings once and says that the call cannot take place and it is an incorrect number.  When you hand-dial the same exact phone number and press send, it goes through.  Any ideas on how to fix?!?!

1. Reboot the device and try again:  With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.

 

2. Make sure you set your own country code at Phone Dialer Screen > Options > Smart dialing.
Set your country code in this format: "+xx" where xx = your country code. Some countries have two or three digit Country Codes. Do not place the '+' in your contact's entry.
* In the US, set this Country Code as "+1", and place your loca area code in the proper box (this normally the default setting in a new BB).

3. At the same location, change the National Number Length to the number of digits for your country (since some countries will have less than 10 as set as the default in the BB). Find out the total digits, minus the country code. Do not place the '+' in your contact's entry.
* For example, some countries have a total number to 8 (plus 3 for country code). You would enter "8".

Thanks for responding!  Changing the country code makes sense but I am unable to get there.  Through options, there is no "smart dialing" to click on.  Is there another way to get to it?

I found the smart dialing option, sorry.  It has country code of +1, our area code, and national number length of 10 which is correct for the US.  Any other ideas??

When I double-click the number fast (from both the contact name in contacts and from a previous line on the phone dialing screen), calls the number and connects... but a message comes up that the number is incorrect.  If you hand-type the number into the phone dialing screen, it goes through fine.  Thank you for trying to help... any other thoughts?

I think something is still wrong in the Smart Dialing settings.

I have the same problem with my BB. I live in a smaller city which does NOT require you to dial the area code when making a local call. If I want to call from my contacts, I get the message that this is a local call and to not dial the area code. However, when I remove the area code from my contacts list, it automatically defaults to including my local area code. (And I believe you need the area code listed in order to make texts.) Disappointed that this issue hasn't been resolved here.
