I recently completed the necessary updates for my curve 8520 and upon completion my screen showed a notification for 2 new emails. Each time I try to back-up and restore my bb it results in another new email notification (I'm currently up to 5) without any unread emails actually existing on my device. I've tried reconciling my software or using the back-up option where emails aren't backed up but nothing's worked. Help?

In this case i would recommend wiping the BlackBerry smartphone. To do this we would need to back up the BlackBerry smartphone. Please open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and connect your BlackBerry smartphone. Click on the Backup and Restore button and select Back Up. Please note the location where the backup is being saved as we will need to access it later to restore the BlackBerry smartphone.
Once backed up please follow the link below to perform a security wipe of your BlackBerry smartphone.
Test the BlackBerry smartphone and proceed with a selective restore as outlined below.
