Hey guys, I've got a problem.
I recently aquired a Blackberry 8330, and let me start off saying this: this is one of the best machines I've ever held. It's just amazing.
I've installed Device Manager and have been using it without any issues. Then, I went and did a wireless update with my phone, upgrading the OS. Ever since I did this, however, the manager recently stopped recognizing my device - my computer still recognizes it, as it charges when plugged in and I can still access the hard drive, but for whatever reason, I am unable to use Device Manager to do anything - at the bottom, the Device Manager states that there is no Black Berry plugged in, as evident by the "None" statement next to the Pin Number.
What can I do? I really need to access the blackberry through Device Manager. Someone, please help > _ <
Things I've tried:
-Restarting the Blackberry (both by holding down the red button and pulling out the battery and re inserting)
-Upgrading the Device Manager to the most recent version
-Uninstalling the most recent version, then downloading and installing version that came with the blackberry (4.2)
I've noticed that the CD packaged with the device itself doesn't contain the most recent edition of the Device Manager, if that means anything. It's just odd that the Device Manager stopped working after I upgraded. Currently, my OS is V4.5.0.175. I recently upgraded both of my parents 8310 Black Berry's - same issue. Before, I could access them via the Device Manager. Now, I cannot. Please help me!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
I cannot tell if you've already done all of this, so I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
5) Install DTM to your PC
6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
7) Start the organizer configuration over:
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!

Thanks for the reply
Unforunately, after following all of your steps, I am still unable to connect my device to my computer. For whatever reason, my Device Manager isn't reading it. I have no idea why.
Is there any other way, other than the Device Manager, that one would be able to install programs (via .cod or .alx) onto their BlackBerries, or is this the only way?
An interesting note: My device still works with my fathers computer, and he's running Device Manager 4.2. His phone connects to his computer, but will not connect to mine.

Ahhhh...interesting yes...try these:
Here is the list of troubleshooting atricles...hopefully something will be useful:

KB15486 Top 10 BlackBerry smartphone and BlackBerry Desktop Manager troubleshooting tips

KB10938 "USB charging current is insufficient" appears on the BlackBerry smartphone

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these.
Hopefully something there is helpful!

Thank you for all of your hardwork.
Following the first guide in your most recent post, it seems as though the Blackberry Device Manager CD didn't come with the most up to date drivers. I had to manually update the drivers through Window's Device Manager. I tried doing that before, but through RIM's Blackberry website directly. I guess letting Windows find and install the driver was best for the circumstance.
Either way, thanks so much. It works now!
