User name associated with this smart phone

I'm new to this forum and have seen posts on this problem but not yet understood the solution.

I reset my user name and password on the phone and now when I go to the Apps although the pass word I put in and user name are correct I get the message that I need to put in 'the user name associated with this smart phone', and it is driving me mad.:Devil2: How do you fix this please - a simple step by step solution would be most appreciated.
