Volume STUCK on maximum

Hi everyone,

I have a Curve 8520 and the volume is stuck on maximum. I have tried many of the obvious things:

Media-Options but audio boost is off and I don't see any other option that would help.

The volume keys on the side of the phone do not work anymore for some reason. I even cut the material with a scalpel to see if pressing the actual sensor would allow me to reduce volume. Needless to say it didn't.

I have tried using the keyboard on the phone and the volume control key (also a $ sign) but it didn't help either.

If anyone could suggest something I would be really grateful.

Cheers

Re: Volume STUCK on maximum

dOrrr, is this the external speaker volume or on the earpiece speaker volume as when on a phone call?

Or both?

Re: Volume STUCK on maximum

Hi JSanders,

It is when listening to music, watching videos and that kind of thing. The volume is on maximum and cannot be changed.

The sounds on phone calls is normal.

Cheers!

Re: Volume STUCK on maximum

If you Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner:, With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot, does that help?

Re: Volume STUCK on maximum

Hi JSanders,

Yes a reboot makes no difference.

It's very weird because another problem the phone has is that it thinks there are headphones plugged in at all times. When I have no headphones plugged in, the song/video plays for a second or two and stops. When the headphones are plugged in, it will play but it is on max volume. Maybe it's just time to throw this phone in the river and get a new one:smileyhappy:

Re: Volume STUCK on maximum

Well, of course I don't know all that. Good to know.

Can you change it from headphones or earphones to device speaker?

Re: Volume STUCK on maximum

Hi JSanders,

Yes, when I am listening to music or watching video I can change to the device speaker by pressing the $ (volume) key. The obvious problem is that it is on maximum volume so isn't really practical. When I press $ again to change back to the headphones, the video/song stops until I plug in the headphones.

Cheers!

Re: Volume STUCK on maximum

OK.. .so. If you're connected to a headphone, can you lower or increase the volume level?

Re: Volume STUCK on maximum

No, I can change between headphone and device speaker. The volume is max at all times.
