Why can't I input on the Desktop Manager

I jsut changed ove from a Treo.  My palm software allowed me to input anything from my computer, i.e. numbers, contacts, memos, appointments.  I'm not finding that with the BB software.  It just seems to be a sync center.  Is there something else I should be doing?

Most people use Outlook for input and sync from there. RIM has not created a whole separate PIM app like palm has, chose not to recreate the wheel that Outlook does well at.
