Wired sync not working

Phone: Curve8300, v4.3.3.89, Platform 2.4.0.39

Running BBDM 4.3.0.15,

PC: Dell Dimension E520, Running Vista Home Premium, Sevice Pack 1,

Outlook: Office 2007, (Office professional plus)

My wife (her phone) does not have a data plan, so all syncing is done via the USB cable.

For a couple of weeks, she has had the following problem:

It starts out reading from the device calendar, and then when it tries to read from Outlook, it says "Blackberry Desktop Manager has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."  It's no surprise to anybody that when I click "close program" Windows does not come skipping back with a solution.

I tried to follow the instructions I found elsewhere on the board, but those said to first sync and make a backup, and I can't even get that far. She doesn't sync her email, just calendar, contacts, to-do lists.

Please help, as not being able to sync makes the phone not-so-useful.

Many thanks,

Ron

Re: Wired sync not working

Yes.  Everything was working fine until quite recently: contacts, calendar, etc. all synced perfectly via USB cable.

Re: Wired sync not working

Hi,

You probably have a corrupt device calendar.

http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB04950&sliceId=SAL_Pub...

This will clear the device calendar, after which, you should sync ONE WAY DESKTOP TO DEVICE.

Make sure you specify the number of days before and after today's date so you can get all PAST and FUTURE

appointments. Once complete, you can reset the sync options for normal two way, and you should be good

to go!

Thanks,

Re: Wired sync not working

Well, that didn't work, and now everything is off of her Blackberry.  This is not good.

In Task 2, step 5, where is says "Calendar-all" there was no such thing.

In Task 3, step 5, she set it to copy from Outlook to the Device.

She got the same messages before about not working, needing to close, and letting us know about a solution.

Other suggestions?

Re: Wired sync not working

This would be the next step:

The Intellisync® configuration folder has corrupt entries and must be removed.

Resolution

To properly synchronize the Calendar with Microsoft Outlook, complete the following steps:

1. On the computer, navigate to the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\[user_name]\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry.
2. Right-click the Intellisync folder and click Delete.
3. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
4. Double-click Synchronize and click Synchronize now.

This worked for me. RIM Doc ID: KB11575

For those on Vista the file path is:
C:\users\[user_name]\AppData\Roaming\Research in Motion\BlackBerry\Intellisync

Thanks,

Let me know

Re: Wired sync not working

That was looking hopeful, but it seems to have gotten stuck on "processing device memo pad."  It was going fine prior to that, gettin 2000 calendar things, asked about reconciling things, and then got stuck.  Seems like the problem is with the memo pad, maybe?  She clicked cancel.

Re: Wired sync not working

It seemed to be stuck in the course of cancelling, so she unplugged it.

How long did you wait before canceling?
