Word to Go Attachment Problem

Hi everyone

I'm hoping somebody can help me with this problem. I have Documents to Go Version 1.005 installed on my 8900. I can access the program with no problems but it will NOT open or recognise any Word documents that are being sent to me via email attachments.

The attachment is shown as a ? and i am told "this attachment type can not be viewed on your device" and "you are about to download a file that cannot be viewed on your Blackberry Device" when attempting to download the file.

I can create a Word doc on the phone and view it but when I attempt to email it to myself it I am told that "The Document Conversion has failed"

I have moved the same Word docs to my phone via USB and store to the media card and I can open them no problems, so it is not a file problem.

The issue is with conversion of the attachement when coming to the device via email so I assume I have a setting wrong somewhere.

Can any help me with what I need to do/change to rectify this?

Re: Word to Go Attachment Problem

Hi and welcome to the forums!

What version of MS Word are you using in conjunction with Docs to Go?

Thanks,

97-2003 version docs. I have sent the same docs to a friends phone and they open fine.

Re: Word to Go Attachment Problem

Hi,

The specs on the Dataviz website say you should be good to go.

Best I can give you is the link for Dataviz support. I have version

1.04 and it works well.

Hope you find a resolution.

Thanks,

Re: Word to Go Attachment Problem

Your issue is not Word to Go.....Just got off the phone with Rim....Have BB 8900 (t-mobile) new as of 2/11/09.  For Outlook 2003 ( and perhaps other versions) you have to change the option to "plain Text" from HTML or Rich Text....In outlook, go to tools-options-mail format- chose "plain text" in the dropdown menu.....click apply....then try and send a word doc to yourself from your home email systems....My issue (same as yours) works perfectly.....it did take some time for Rim to realize what was happening.  The 8900 is a great phone.

Re: Word to Go Attachment Problem

Now that is what I call a proper answer. I thought this was an unsolveable issue and was going to be an ever present problem with my phone.

Superb work Wileyenge, I do indeed also have a tmobile handset and this solution has solved the problem.

Full marks for the effort my friend, well done and thanks

Re: Word to Go Attachment Problem

Hey Guys, Im back with a new problem also, sorry

Whilst the initial problem has been solved by Wileyeng (thanks again) I am still having a problem in receiving Word docs from a 3rd party.

I have changed my Outlook setting to Plain Text and can send my own Word docs to my phone without a problem but when my boss sends from his email system they are not opening again.

I can't ask my boss (or in fact anyone else) to change their settings just to suit me so what is the next step.

This surely must be more of a problem than just a few of us?????

Any ideas please?
