blackberry maps?

When I open BB maps application, I get a grid of diagonal lines covering the screen and I can't zoom in very far.  What's the deal?

Thanks.

Yes.  It worked well for a while but now it's pretty much worthless.

Re: blackberry maps?

I just use the Google Maps app because find it better anyways. Try that instead.

Re: blackberry maps?

^ the problem with google maps apps is that it's not connected to the phone book. when u click on a person's address in your phonebook, and you click on "view work map" or "view in map", it goes straight to bb maps. is there any way to make it go straight to google maps?

Re: blackberry maps?

Shibby, do this on your BB:

Make certain that you in an area of good signal coverage AND outside with a clear view of the sky in an open area of no tall buildings.

Click Options > Advanced > GPS > Menu > Refresh GPS.

Give it up to 10 minutes to refresh, and try 2-3 times in a row.

Re: blackberry maps?

quite frankly, BBMaps does work well, yes, it is a basic application, but many people like it and use it and it does have a couple specific functions integrated with the device you won't find in other mapping apps.

Anyway, this thread isn't a debate over its quality, but to help another user get it working. If you have suggestions, please do contribute. Smiley Happy

Re: blackberry maps?

As the one who started this thread, let me say thanks for all the input, but it seems the problem was due to a worn out SIM card. I have a new SIM and all seems to be OK.
