Hi All, hope you can help.

Blackberry 8520
Bought phone seconhand, put in my Tescomobile SIM
Recieved a welcome text from Tesco

Since then the phone apears to be blocked, it wont send or recieve calls or texts.

Manage connections > Service status > Mobile voice: not available
        Connection: not connected

Options > advanced options > SIM card > SIM card: Security disabled

Go back to the Options >advanced Options >sim card page.

On that page type the letters MEPD (you won't see anything being typed but when you're done another page will open. What does it say next to the word "Network"?

Ahh ... tried that before but tried it this time in CAPS and it worked :-)

SIM disabled

network disabled

network subset disabled

service provider disabled

corporate disabled

So, the device is unlocked as it needs to be.

I would contact your provider and see if they can help. it's possible the device was lost/stolen and the IMEI is blocked. However, only your carrier will be able to tell you.

Yup - it turns out you are right.

Finnally got through to Orange who are the phone's original source. They say it is on the IMEI blacklist.

Oh well - that'll teach me (and hopefully some others on here) to buy a phone on Ebay. :-)

That's a bummer. One must be careful when purchasing eBay devices. Contact the seller and see if they'll help you out.
