Re: how do I save my contacts on my OC

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

You "do not have a smart phone"? If so, then there's no point in your question. Then again, in your profile you listed "curve 8321 of 8520", both of which would be SmartPhones. So that starts the confusion...

In any event, RIM provides several FREE methods to backup your data for use exactly as you desire.

BB Protect can backup, OTA, some of your BB data (not all, but some).

The FREE Desktop Software can backup nearly all of your BB data (only BBM Contacts are missing, but there is a workaround for that), and can be used to restore.

Here's the process I recommend:

  1. Daily -- configure BB Protect to backup all that it can (force it to use only WiFi if you are concerned about data network charges)
  2. Weekly -- Use BBM to backup your BBM contacts to your Media card or device memory
  3. Weekly -- Use Mass Storage Mode to copy, to your computer, the full contents of your Device and Media card memory areas
  4. Weekly -- Use the Desktop Software to conduct a full backup to your computer

With that, you have several sources of data for complete restore of your information. If you also use a desktop organizer (e.g., Outlook) and synchronize that with your BB (also for FREE), then you have yet another source of data protection.

For specific instructions, these KBs and links would likely be helpful to you:

  • KB25063 How to use BlackBerry Protect to restore data to a BlackBerry smartphone

Good luck!
