No, you cannot trace it via the IMEI, but your mobile provider might be able to do so, most often they will not unless you have a police report asking them to do so.

Just to add with JSanders...in some countries (mostly Asian) law enforcing angencies take responsibilities of finding the device with the help of mobile service provides. You can seek their help.
