its all frozen!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all

I have a curve 8520. It has being "playing up" for a couple of days - not updating facebook etc, in my wisdon I took the battery out to try and re-start it. When I put the battery back in it started up but is now frozen on the 1st screen, keypad and cursor not working, battery is draining in a couple of hours and the speaker icon has a star next to it (thats new), please help I dont know what to do next
