locked blackberry curve

I have tried to unlock my blackberry Curve many times and even spoke to my provider and am not able to unlock it. He told me that if I continued to try, it would lock my permanently out and erase my memory and info   Please help me!!! I can't lose everything and I am afraid if I try to unlock it again, it will erase.

Re: locked blackberry curve

You generally have 10 attempts to unlock the device. After the 5th attempt you will no longer see the *** it will become visible to ensure that you are not making any errors while typing. After the 10th attempt the device will wipe itself. Do you have any idea what the password can be or do you not remember it at all? Do you have a recent backup of the device? If not you may need to contact RIM and have them reset the password.

Re: locked blackberry curve

Thanks for writing. Yes, I know the password, but when I try to type the Numbers, they are letters. I am afraid to type anymore, so I would love for someone to reset it for me. I was told by Alltel that they did not know how. Who is RIS ?

Re: locked blackberry curve

I have been doing that, but the numbers that I enter, I know are my password numbers, but it still will not unlock. The Alltel guy said that I had "multiple taps". HE advised me to hold the same button down for 3 times, and then the 2nd with 2 and so on. Doing this, has locked my phone down with only one chance to unlock. I would like to find a phone number or something to have the password reset and then to disable it.

Any suggestions?????

Re: locked blackberry curve

Unless you're on a BES, there's no way to reset the password without putting the incorrect password in 10 times. Doing so will wipe the device (erase all the data), but afterwards you can set a new password

He is stupid. You have a Blackberry curve, so there is no multitap. Multitap is available on Blackberry Pearl only because it has not a QWERTY keyboard.

so you have come to a point where you can type your password and see it : there is no more ***
which means you know what you have type (letters, caps, numbers, special characters), right ?

Try and do a backup of each database (one at a time) with the desktop manager. Then try your last password. If you are lucky, it will work. If not, then I hope the backup is okay so that you can restore it.

Of course, you can't. Otherwise the password would be useless. It is a feature that you have activated on purpose so that someone that does not have the password won't be able to reveal the secrets in it.
