my blackberry curve 8300 won't turn on ...

last night the battery was 1/2 charged so I plugged it in... I woke up this morning and the red light was blinking so I clicked a button and the red light stayed constant and then nothing happened for a moment and then this dead battery screen came up and the red light turned off ... so I took the battery out and put it back in to see if that would help and it didn't ... so then I plugged it into my computer to see if it would charge that way .. the red light came on and has stayed constant but nothing else. it won't turn on! i have a mac so while connecting my phone to my computer will charge it that is all .... what is going on?

Re: my blackberry curve 8300 won't turn on ...

I think there are a few possiblities of what may have happened:

1. Your battery is dead and you need to get a new one

2. Your phone's usb port is dead and won't charge the battery

3. Your OS got corrupted somehow and you need to reload

For #1, see if you can use a spare battery/borrow a battery from somewhere (maybe your carriers store will allow you to check that with a spare battery they have) and insert it to see if the phone starts up.

For #2, try an external charger if you have one, or charge on another phone if possible

For #3, look at this link for restoring a bricked blackberry: http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101-lecture-12-how-reload-operating-system-nuked-blackberry

Be warned that the method on the site will erase all data.

Post back if any of these help or not.
