no incoming calls

hello  and thank you for taking the time to read this.  I purchased a slightly used 8320 on craiglslist.  it was tmobile and i am att.  i could not get it unlocked but i did get a chip that fits between the phone and my sim which unlocks it.  the problem i am having is i cannot receive any incoming calls or sms texts.   i wiped the phone and everything else works.    any ideas?

Why could it not be unlocked, where did you try?

 

I am guessing the contraption you have in between the SIM and you phone might be the issue.
