ok.. i bought my blackberry curve 8330 second hand off a friend of mine.. i believe i downloaded the correct software..
my computer will make the sounds saying its connected to my phone, but nothing will popup.. ive watched my friend load his Pearl up to his computer, and it gives the option window like you would put a Mini-SD card in a reader.. open folder, play, ect..
that is what its sposed to do.. but nothing happens, i go into "My Computer" to see if the BB is connected to the computer, and the E drive says nothing is showing up.. says something is there, but isnt listing anything..
for some reason my computer isnt reconizing my phone..Im using WindowsXP Pro. on a Dell Optiplex GX620
ive read previous posts.. saying "did you d/l the software with the BB plug'd on, no i didnt have it plug'd in.. i downloaded the software, installed it, and went from there..
when i installed the software, it didnt even give me any icons other than the installshield folder to install the program, i dont know if that is normal or not, just thought i would bring that up..
all i want to do is be able to use the usb data cable to transfer pictures and music back and forth to my phone, so i dont have to remove my sd card everytime i desire to do so..
also.. on another note.. i want to put more games on my phone other than blockbreaker.. i have a few downloaded to my computer, but i dont know what folder to put them on in the phone to be able to play them.. if you could give me a hand with that also.. i would much appreciate it..
Thx.

Welcome to the forums d2cuervo ![]()
You need to download and install the Blackberry Desktop Manager from here: DTM
I would install the latest version 4.7. You will have 2 options: with or without Media Manager. It does exactly what it sounds like, it manages your media. Although, I find it is buggy and I prefer to use DTM without it.
Desktop Manager can be used for several things:
1. Backing up your phone
2. Installing applications
3. Synchronizing contacts, memos, tasks, calendar with Outlook
4. Updating your device software
If you want to view files and folders on your media card you need to turn on the media card support feature. On your phone, go to Options>Media Card and change Media Card Support to ON. This way, when you plug in the phone to the computer, it will show the media card on the phone as an external drive where you can drag and drop files. You will need to install the Desktop Manager or just the USB and Modem Drivers in the link I sent you to connect this way to the phone. I would highly recommend the Desktop Manager since the phone can crash in some circumstances and a backup really comes in handy.
I hope this info helps you. Please post back with any more questions if you have trouble.
Cheers,

ok.. and what about the game installations? and plz include how to access it once its installed to the phone please..
That depends on where you get the game. There are two ways of installing apps or games or any other blackberry software on the phone:
1. Over the air i.e. browsing to the link with the internet browser on your phone and downloading it directly
2. Downloading the game (or application) to your computer and using the desktop manager to install it. Here is a guide: KB14473
Once installed, the game icon should appear on the applications screen/home screen

kijanasmart - I have a similar problem, but in my case, i don't have a problem connecting my BB with USB and manage the media.
My problem is that I connect it via USB to synchronize and the Desktop Software just flashes that is connected with the device, but no synchronization happens.
I've just downloaded the latest version 5.0, reinstall because I might have uncheck something in the process, but nothing. Still same outcome.
The progress box comes up for about a second and then disappears.
Any suggestions?

THank you IrwinII... I'm running Windows 7 and BlackBerry Desktop Manager 5.0.0.11. I just got Windows 7 a few days ago and that is when the issue started.
Thanks for the Links, unfortunately, they don't do much for what I need

Hi again rmedina. Check out this kb DM support for Win7
Looks like you need to update your DM version.
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
1) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
2) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software: (make sure you get version 5.0.1
Software Download for Blackberry Support
* Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
3) Install DTM to your PC
4) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Let us know how it goes!
