problems when typing text messages

for several months now my cursor has been jumping about all over the  place when I'm typing a text message.  It also brings up random symbols as if I have been using sym button which I haven't been. Cursor can jump up to received message, to smiley or back to anywhere in typed message.  I have adjusted tracked ball, carried out diagnostic test and done reset by taking battery out when switched on to no avail.  phone is clean and has never got damp. At whits end??? Anyone else had this problem??

If you are 100% certain that there is no moisture intrusion (honestly, what you describe sounds decidedly like that...but nevertheless), then I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.

Thank you. Have done as you said - deleted some downloaded songs and put in safe mode. Will let you know if it works.
