problems with Blackberry

hi there i am new here so please bear with me...

 

I have a Blackberry curve 8520 (which i was given but i did a factory reset)

 

i have called my provider to set up a data plan... i have made myself a new blackberry account... i have even manadged to download blackberry app world onto my phone (Via wifi) But i still cant use the internet oon my phone outside of the house and something is "not right" with my messenger service as i cant add my friend as it keeps saying pending!!!

 

Someone please help me before i give up!!!

Newrock have you registered your device with the wireless network? How you do this is options then device then go to advance system settings then host routing table and then register your device, you will then receive an email saying your device is now registered, as for bbm friend request saying pending have you set up blackberry messenger?

in the setup folder i dont have the option to set up an email account?!?!?! do you think i should download an app???
