"Read only" address book??

Hi there,

really hoping someone can help, because I fear I'm starting to lose the plot. Unfortunately I'm not the most tech savvy person. I had an iPhone, and then when that broke got a Curve 8520 as a work phone. One of the times I has it plugged into my laptop, all my old iPhone contacts copied over, which was brilliant.

Last week however I dropped my phone in the loo, and long story short, I have a new one (same model). When I tried to restore my settings from where I backed up my Curve v1, my address book won't copy over as it's "read only". It shows up as light grey writing.

I have no idea what to do- I've been trying for days to copy the contacts over, but to no avail. I can't say it to IT in work because, truthfully, they'll just laugh in my face.

Please help!! I just want to have my contacts back!!

Thanks,

kate

Re: "Read only" address book??

Kate are you using the BlackBerry Desktop Software to restore the old backup file to the new device... or what are you doing?

If you have the backup, open the Desktop Software with the new BlackBerry connected and choose Device > Restore, and you might need to navigate to and tell the Desktop software which backup file you want to use.

Re: "Read only" address book??

Thanks for replying so quickly!

I'm using Desktop Software v6. When I choose "selevt device data and settings", I can't select the option for ' address book- all',where all my contacts are saved. The only address book option available to me is 'address book- last used hints'.

Any ideas?

Re: "Read only" address book??

OK, unplugged from the USB, look on your BlackBerry to Your Messages application > Options > Email Reconcialation and turn OFF (diable) Wireless Reconcile.

Now try again.

vinay, you would need to explain in more detail your setup.

Are you contacts synced wirelessly, such as with Gmail?
